Description

Intellectual capital, alongside collaborative capabilities, is particularly important to the continuous generation of radical innovations. In the literature, the link between collaborative and intellectual capital, although key assets in knowledge-intensive industries, has so far rarely been investigated. First, in this article, a model introducing the interactions of human, intellectual and structural capital is developed. Second, propositions are derived in view of the exploitation of implicit knowledge and the dynamic capabilities of a firm. As a consequence, empowered team-based organizational forms are considered to be the most adequate collaboration pattern for knowledge-intensive industries. The implications will illustrate the need for companies to build valuable collaborative capital helping to perpetuate further product innovations.
