Description

A new field called Service Science Management and Engineering (SSME) is emerging in response to the shift to a service economy. As this field becomes an important source of insight to business and management, it will be important to incorporate sustainable business principles from the beginning. This presentation summarized key contributions concerning environmental and social dimensions of sustainability for the new science. At the same time, the new discipline offers potential insights for addressing complex problems in sustainable business. The presentation concluded with a simple example of how the new service science might inform waste problems in the electronics industry.
