Before beginning his academic career, Professor Simeon worked on Wall Street and in Tokyo as a financial and securities analyst for American Express, Daiwa Securities and Swiss Bank.

Professor Simeon has a Ph.D. in business administration from U.C. Berkeley and an M.A. from Johns Hopkins University. He is fluent in five languages and has traveled extensively in Europe, South America, and Asia.

Professor Simeon has taught courses, carried out research and published articles covering a variety of different business topics. Over the years at San Francisco State University, he has taught courses in comparative management, international business, strategic management, Japanese managerial strategies and international career dynamics.

His main areas of research include internet marketing, comparative business strategies, cross-cultural management, organizational learning, popular culture branding, applied institutional theory and corporate governance dynamics.

He is presently involved in researching and writing articles on the contrasting impact of globalization and domestic institutional environments on the career management strategies of employees in various countries. He is also involved in a group research project on effective strategies in wine tourism.

In addition to his academic activities, Professor Simeon has completed several consulting and training projects with Bay Area firms.
