Anne Koch

Anne Koch is a assistant professor in the management department. Previously, she was a research fellow at SPRU, the Institute of Science, Technology and Policy Research at Sussex University in the United Kingdom, and a research fellow at the Haas School of Business in University of California, Berkeley.

Dr. Koch is currently involved in a number of research projects that explore how high-technology firms support innovation, knowledge management, and learning of new product development teams and communities. With a particular focus on biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies she examines how these firms invent, develop, and market innovations, such as healthcare products and biofuels. Her inquiry includes the firms’ efforts in corporate social responsibility to increase social justice around the globe. In particular, she focuses on how biotechnology corporations and academic institutions can fast and effectively find sustainable solutions to worldwide medical and environmental problems.

In the academic year 2005-2006, Dr. Koch was a visiting professor at the University of Washington. She also taught classes on new product development, innovation, and business strategy at the Leuphana University of Luenebury and the University of San Francisco. Moreover, she developed the classes “Innovation Management” and "Creativity Techniques" for the MBA distance-learning program "Sustainability Management und Entrepreneurship" at the Leuphana University of Luneburg, Germany. At San Francisco State University, she teaches strategic management at the graduate and undergraduate level.

Dr. Koch also works closely with companies to find innovative and sustainable solutions. Her experience includes management consulting for non-profit and profit organizations.
