Jessica Cameron is an expert in the situational and organizational factors that elicit unethical behavior. Her research has looked at the likelihood that people will behave unethically when they are faced with a threat to their self-concept, their position in a group, or their compensation. She received a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Stanford University, and conducted research as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Management of Organizations Group at the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley. Jessica works as a survey research consultant and is the founder of User Crunch (http://www.usercrunch.com).
Bruce Carlisle's is currently CEO and founder of Conference Hound, a San Francisco-based seed stage company dedicated to global discovery of conferences and trade shows in the $263 billion (U.S) conference and trade show industry. He is also the leader of Digital Axle, a specialized digital marketing consultancy. Bruce’s career spans the disciplines of web publishing, digital marketing, advertising, PR, direct marketing, broadcast news and sports production, and for the last 17 years, digital marketing and e-commerce. Bruce is a recognized leader in the field of digital marketing who has been published, interviewed or featured in Fortune, Red Herring, the Wall Street Journal, The Industry Standard, CNN Business News, BtoB Magazine and Advertising Age among other outlets. He was featured in a chapter of the recently published book, Internet Ad Pioneers: The Stories Of The Unsung People Behind The Birth And Growth Of The Internet Ad Industry (Volume 1) by Cory Treffiletti. In 1996, Bruce Carlisle co-founded and became president and CEO of SF Interactive, one of the nation's pioneering interactive advertising agencies. Recognized in 2000 as “the fastest growing privately-held company in the San Francisco Bay Area” by The San Francisco Business Times, SFI developed award winning programs for Cisco, VeriSign, HP, Netscape and Microsoft as well as consumer-focused companies including Morgan Stanley Online, Snapple, Nike, and Roxio. In March 2003, SFI was acquired by Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners, the award winning Sausalito-based advertising agency, where Bruce served as president until March of 2004.
Jeff Cheung has spent his entire professional career in the banking field, starting first as a loan officer at the First National Bank of Chicago to his current position as CEO of Gateway Bank. Jeff contributes his time and expertise to a variety of Not for profits, including Children's Hospital of Oakland, California Museum at Oakland, and Inner City Advisors.
Kelly Clark, vice president, general counsel and chief ethics officer, oversees all legal and ethics matters for Seabourn and the Holland America Line group of companies. Clark advises the companies on a broad range of legal and compliance issues arising from ownership and operation of twenty-one cruise ships operating under either the Holland America Line or Seabourn name. Clark is also executive sponsor of the company’s ethics and compliance committee that focuses on improving awareness and education throughout the companies of the importance of working with integrity, honesty and ethics at all levels of the organization. Clark joined Holland America Line’s legal department in 2002 as assistant general counsel and was promoted to her current position in November 2004. Prior to joining Holland America Line, Clark was a litigation associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York City. Clark received both her juris doctor and master in business administration from New York University in 1993.
Neil Cohen has more than has 30 years of experience creating, building and managing brands for start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, including SEGA, Hilton, Arby’s and McDonalds. At Visage, he is responsible for the company's brand, lead generation, communication and social marketing programs. Prior to Visage, Neil was the principal of Cohen & Company, a San Francisco-based brand and marketing strategy firm that has done work for Yahoo!, Blue Shield, Friendster, San Francisco State University, SFO, Audience, Alibaba and more than 100 startups. Neil has held vice president positions at SEGA, Hilton, Arby’s and Zircon Corporation and was a founding partner of Gelman & Gray Communications and (purchased by Chiat Day) Douglas Consulting Group (purchased by Cohn & Wolf). Neil currently teaches marketing at SF State University and previously taught at the University Of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication. He has been a guest speaker at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and the University Of Chicago Graduate School Of Business. He received a bachelor of science degree in journalism from the University of Florida, Gainesville and a master of science degree in journalism from the Annenberg School for Communication at University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
Michael Cusenza’s interest in microfinance and economic development stems from his international travels where he observed vast economic disparities. After graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in economics, he put his passion to the test and spent time assisting Ecuadorian farmers in the foothills of the Andes Mountains as well as impoverished communities in Northern Peru. Since then, Michael has committed his professional career to financial empowerment and business development within low and moderate income communities. Recently, he worked for the Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corp. where he assisted minority- and women-owned businesses gain access to government funding and licensing. More recently, Michael spent time working with Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners in New York City. While there, he partnered with credit unions to help provide financial education and access to capital to individuals and small businesses.
Geoff Desa is an assistant professor of management in the College of Business. He is a member of the Sustainability Group within the College of Business and teaches business and society, strategic management, and social entrepreneurship. Geoff's research examines resource mobilization and venture development in the technology and social entrepreneurship sector. He earned his Ph.D. in business from the University of Washington in Seattle with emphases in technology entrepreneurship, strategic management, and public affairs. Prior to that, Geoff worked at Novera Optics and at Hewlett Packard as an optical engineer. He earned his M.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He is on the board of the Common Data Project, a technology social venture engaged in information technology privacy.
Since September of 2011, Dian Emerson has held the position of vice president human resources, business services and diversity. Her team of human resources business partners supports employees and leaders across the company, including corporate offices functions, supply operations, information technology, and marketing. In the areas of diversity and HR compliance, her teams support diversity and inclusion strategy implementation and programs across Safeway with the goal of ensuring that diversity continues to be a key part of the culture of Safeway at all levels. HR compliance programs include education, training, and assessment of HR-related policies and procedures. Her teams work with other key HR areas, including leadership planning, succession planning, compensation and benefits to help ensure seamless delivery of the full scope of HR programs from other departments, and to support and enhance key HR strategies and priorities. She provides guidance and support to the corporate employee resource and network groups, such as the Women’s Network Group, the Safeway Asian Network, and several others. In addition, she is involved in diversity training and development, on topics from gender communication to cultural awareness and generational differences. Prior to joining Safeway, Dian was an attorney in private law practice, and also held a corporate counsel position for employment matters with a technology company in California. She received her bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California, Irvine and her law degree from the University of California, Davis. She is an active member of the California Bar.
Abhiroop Gandhi is compliance officer at Questcor Pharmaceuticals. He is responsible for implementing and managing the company’s corporate ethics and healthcare compliance program and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. This program includes development, implementation and oversight of compliance policies and procedures, employee training, audits, monitoring, incident management and investigations, transparency initiatives, and providing day-to-day advice to business partners. Prior to joining Actelion, Mr. Gandhi was the director of commercial compliance at Actelion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he established and managed the healthcare compliance program. Previously, he was at Genentech in the Commercial Business Practices group, where he was involved with initiating and managing various cross-functional compliance and commercialization initiatives. Prior to Genentech, Mr. Gandhi was a management consultant with Razorfish and advised clients in the life sciences and high-tech industries. Abhiroop holds a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University, an MBA from FMS, Delhi University and a bachelor of engineering (mechanical) from Birla Institute of Technology.
Kohl S. Gill is the president and founder of LaborVoices, Inc., a supply-chain management and anti-trafficking start-up company—and Member of the Clinton Global Initiative—providing information services to global workers and supply-chain managers. Kohl served as an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow for the U.S. Departments of Energy and State, most recently as the South Asia and Middle East Labor Affairs Officer for the Office of International Labor and Corporate Social Responsibility in the State Department’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. Prior to federal service, Kohl was an Indicorps Fellow in the slum areas of Delhi, India, serving as a volunteer paralegal with local residents, using transparency legislation to fight both petty and grand corruption at the local level. He is a graduate of the California Institute of Technology and received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, for his work in quantum computing and semiconductor physics. Kohl was born and raised in rural Mississippi.
With approximately 15 years of accounting experience, Tim Green is the CFO of Gateway Bank. Prior to joining Gateway, Tim spent much of his professional career in public accounting, both with Grant Thornton and Moss Adams. When not working, Tim enjoys travelling and gourmet food and wine.
R. Paul Herman created the HIP (Human Impact + Profit) methodology for entrepreneurs, companies and investors worldwide to realize how quantifiable sustainability can drive financial performance. Herman advises investors, designs HIP portfolios, and manages the HIP 100 Index—all applying “The HIPScorecard” featured in his 2010 book (The HIP Investor; Make Bigger Profits by Building a Better World; John Wiley & Sons), Fast Company magazine, business school curricula, and at www.HIPinvestor.com. Herman’s financial acumen was honed at the Wharton School and McKinsey & Co., and he accelerated social entrepreneurs at Ashoka.org and Omidyar Network. Herman has advised leading corporations (including Walmart and NIKE), family offices and foundations on how to be more HIP. His insights have been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fortune, Forbes, BusinessWeek, and on CNN, Reuters, Morningstar.com and CNBC. R. Marc Krizack is a social entrepreneur, organizational development specialist, lawyer and activist for disability rights. Marc has been the Whirlwind executive director since 2003. Conceived and led development of Whirlwind's transformation from a traditional non-profit into a social enterprise through the development of Whirlwind's Franchise Network and the development of large scale manufacturing. A former wheelchair mechanic at the UC Berkeley Disabled Students Program in late 70s and early 80s, throughout the 90s he helped transform a disabled sports club in Novosibirsk (Siberia) into Russia's first independent living center and helped establish the first university level disabled students program in Russia. He is a contributing author and member of the editorial committee of the World Health Organization Guidelines on the Provision of Manual Wheelchairs in Less Resourced Settings.
As the portfolio manager for North & Central America, Betsy McCormick is responsible for managing the existing portfolio as well as expanding Kiva's presence in the region through new partnerships. She was previously a field support specialist in the same region. Prior to joining Kiva, Betsy served as a Kiva Fellow in Juticalpa, Honduras with FAMA and in Medellin, Colombia with Interactuar. Having long cultivated an interest in international development and social justice, Betsy has previously worked with Guatemalan midwives and for a Bay Area health education non-profit. She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in social studies and a Spanish language citation from Harvard College.
John O’Meara is a west coast product with an undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco and a Masters from UCLA. Upon graduation he began his marketing career as brand manager for Hunt-Wesson where he led the successful launch of America’s #1 microwave popcorn, Orville Redenbacher’s. He subsequently transitioned to agency life where he managed the advertising for industry leaders such as Honda, Hilton and Nestle. His work has been recognized with multiple creative awards; including Clio, Effie, Belding and London International Awards. In 1993, Young & Rubicam whisked John away from Los Angeles and returned him to his San Francisco roots. As Account Managing Director he spearheaded the development of the award-winning “Talking Cars” campaign for Chevron U.S.A. John O'Meara brought over 25 years of professional experience in international advertising, branding and design to his position as instructor and director of strategic initiatives for USF's School of Management. Over the course of his career he has contributed to the success of many F500 brands while holding leadership roles at Young & Rubicam Advertising, Landor Associates and Anthem Worldwide. Currently John is focusing his efforts on educating the next generation of marketers at USF while continuing to provide strategic consulting services to Bay Area businesses and non-profit organizations.
William Perttula was a professor of marketing and Internet marketing in the College of Business at San Francisco State University until June 2012. He served several years as the chair of the marketing department and one year as the Dean of the College. He has taught marketing, Internet marketing, and e-commerce in business programs in South Korea (Helsinki School of Economics), Denmark (Aarhus School of Business), and France (University of Paris XII). He also lectured for and advised the Department of Business Administration, SRH University of Heidelberg in June 2010. He has been a consultant to several small businesses regarding their Internet strategy. He created and developed Business Ethics Week in 2006.
Koka Sexton, director of social strategy at InsideView, is one of the most recognized social media experts in the technology industry. Sameer Verma is professor of information systems at San Francisco State University. He has a Ph.D in business administration from Georgia State University. His research focuses on the diffusion and adoption of innovative technologies. In addition to his academic work, Professor Verma has worked with companies in consulting capacity in the areas of content analysis, management and delivery. He has helped start One Laptop per Child (OLPC) volunteer efforts in San Francisco, Jamaica, Armenia, Tuva and India. He is the founder and chief organizer of the OLPC San Francisco volunteer community. He likes to cook, hike and play with Lego when time permits. He still has much to learn from his two kids. Will Weinstein has been active in the financial services business for over 40 years. He was a governor of the Midwest Stock Exchange and served for five years as a governor of the American Stock Exchange until its merger with Nasdaq in 1998. He was a senior partner at Oppenheimer & Co. and the managing partner of Montgomery Securities (now Bank of America Securities). Will teaches an MBA course in Ethics in Decision Making in the College of Business. He also has taught business ethics for several years at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and has taught seminars on professional ethics at the University of New South Wales, City College of San Francisco, and Golden Gate University.
