News + Events : Brennen Dickerson awarded 2013 Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key

Brennen Dickerson is to be honored as the 2013 Delta Sigma Pi scholarship key recipient for San Francisco State on May 23 at a reception honoring undergraduate business students. The key is given annually to the graduating student with the highest cumulative academic average toward a degree in business administration.

Brennan DickersonAfter graduation, Brennen plans to join PricewaterhouseCoopers as a summer tax intern.

Brennen has lived in the Bay Area for his entire life. After graduating from Half Moon Bay High School, he took a year off to work in retail full time and evaluate what path he wanted to take in the future.

After much consideration, he chose to attend San Francisco State because of its location and solid reputation amongst local employers.

Not long after this, Brennen decided to major in accounting and pursue a career in tax advisory, a field with a unique combination of research, writing, and analytical work.

To help pay for college expenses, Brennen continued to work in retail part-time while studying full time. He left retail to accept a part-time internship at CPA firm Burr Pilger Mayer during his final semester.

Looking to sharpen his communication and teamwork skills, Brennen joined the Accounting Students Organization during his sophomore year. He became an officer in the organization and served as president during the fall 2012 semester. Brennen also is a member of Beta Alpha Psi and participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program on campus.

Brennan will officially receive the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key at the College of Business Honors Recognition reception on Thursday, May 23, 2013.

After graduation, Brennen joins PricewaterhouseCoopers as a summer tax intern, and hopes to eventually join the firm full time in their international tax practice. Immediately after the internship, he will attend Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo to study for a Masters in Taxation.

Aside from his academic and professional activities, Brennen has played the drums for 10 years, focusing mainly on the heavy metal genre. He never truly had dreams of becoming a rock star, but would like to win Battle of the Corporate Bands one day!

Congratulations to Brennan, and we can't wait to see you as a tax executive rocking a set of drums!
