"The highlight of the HMEI Lobby Day was to experience our cohesive energy to educate legislators about the importance of CSU's hospitality management programs. Total travel spending in California was $102.3 billion in 2011, a 7.6 percent increase from 2010 spending.... supported 893,000 jobs, with earnings of $30.4 billion. San Francisco State University with 500-600 HTM (Hospitality and Tourism Management) students is hardly enough to meet the massive hospitality industry." -- Janet Sim, Professor and Chair, Hospitality and Tourism Management Department
