SF State's Department of Information Systems invites all faculty and students to a discussion on Big Data, Friday, December 6, 3–5 pm, at the SF State Downtown Campus, room 557; light refreshments will be served. No RSVP is necessary.
Bio of the Speakers:
Michael Glass currently leads PG&E’s Demand Side Systems organization, a group of 100 IT professionals who plan, manage, deliver, and support the systems behind many of PG&E’s customer programs. Key areas supported include Energy Efficiency, Demand Response, and emerging customer technology programs such as HAN, EVs, and Green Button. The group also owns and maintains PG&E’s Customer Data Warehouse, which holds the data from PG&E’s 9 million-plus SmartMeter™ deployment and supports associated customer and interval data analytics programs. Michael has 14 years of energy industry experience. Prior to joining PG&E, Michael worked as a consultant supporting North American energy companies with wholesale market activities and systems. Michael holds a BA with majors in Economics and French Studies from Rice University in Houston, TX.
Victor Jimenez, Utilities Executive at Capgemini, has over 25 years of experience in Information Technology and 18 years in the utility industry. In his current role, Mr. Jimenez leads Capgemini’s utility analytics strategy, Oracle utilities alliance, and utility engagements in the West. Prior to joining Capgemini, Mr. Jimenez was Senior Director, Industry Strategy at Oracle where he was responsible for Demand Side Management product strategy, customer products, analytics, mergers and acquisitions, industry events, and executive relationships. In his career at PG&E, Mr. Jimenez was a member of Strategic Planning and Architecture organization where he designed strategic technology solutions to complex business requirements. As a trusted partner to the Customer Care business unit, Mr. Jimenez led the technology strategy for PG&E’s demand side management portfolio and held lead technology roles in integration, enterprise architecture, and billing. Mr. Jimenez has breadth in utility functional and technical capabilities and expertise in meter-to-cash, demand side management, analytics, smart grid, integration, portal, and enterprise architecture. Mr. Jimenez is an active participant in utility and technology forums. He holds a BS in Business and Computing Information Systems from San Francisco State University.
Kaustav P. “KP” Chaudhuri is the Founder of Lead Socially Inc. He has extensive experience as an executive and an entrepreneur in companies like HCL Technologies, TCG Soros and Silicon Valley startups. He was part of a team which wrote The First Mile (John Wiley) a book on entrepreneurship, which motivated him to write SEE, FEEL, ASK, ACT: 4 Rules of Leading Socially which is in the editing stage. He is also a leading Meetup organizer in SF having almost 6000 members in his groups. He holds an MBA from XLRI Institute of Management in India.
