Qualifications and Requirements
San Francisco State University
The admissions committee reviews applicant's overall qualifications and takes the following requirements into consideration:
- Completion of a degree equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor's degree from a recognized university
- Grade Point Average: Final GPA of bachelor’s degree or last 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of college coursework completed, must be at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Or earned a master’s degree with a 3.0 GPA.
- GMAT: total score, verbal, quantitative, and writing (AWA) scores. OR GRE: total score, verbal, quantitative, and writing (AWA) scores. (GMAT is preferred.)
- Statement of Purpose
- Résumé
- Letters of recommendation from employment supervisors or university professors
- Foreign language test is required of all applicants who have earned their undergraduate degree from a country where the official language is not English. Any of the following tests taken within the past two years are accepted: TOEFL exam minimum score of 96 IBT (or 243 CBT or 590 PBT), an IELTS score of at least 7.0, or Pearson Test of English (PTE) academic overall score of 65.
University of Nice
In order to be admitted into the MBA MIB program you must also be accepted by the University of Nice (UNS). We forward your application material to UNS. They review your application as part of their acceptance process.
In addition you must send to UNS by email the following:
- scanned copy of your passport
- photo of yourself in an acceptable format: jpeg, gif, tiff, or bmp
Send these items to mba.mib@unice.fr
Be sure to identify yourself as an MBA MIB applicant in the email by indicating in the subject "MBA MIB Application: your last name and first name".
After UNS receives these items and evaluates the application, they will contact you to set up a time for an online interview. This interview is required by UNS. It is the last step in the application process.
Application Checklist
Step One
Complete and submit your entire graduate application via CSU Mentor online application. For links to the CSU Mentor online application, see Division of Graduate Studies Graduate Admissions Forms.
- Create your account
- Apply to San Francisco State University
- Apply for the Master of Business Administration (MBA MIB) dual degree program
- For Major/Program Objective, select :
Business Administration (Joint with University of Nice-France [MBA/MIB] - For Degree Objective, select: Other Master’s
- Indicate the date you took, or plan to take, the GMAT exam.
Step Two
Submit the following three documents to the Division of Graduate Studies:
1. Application Fee
Applicants submit the application fees of USD $55.00 electronically.
2. Financial Statement/Medical Insurance Form for International Students
The form must be submitted by October 15, and can be obtained online from the Graduate Studies Admission Forms web page.
Applicants who need a student visa (F-1) must also submit this form which includes a financial statement dated within 12 months from the date of the application, and certified by the bank indicating that the student or sponsors have at least US$25,626.00 to cover one academic year of study. Check the SEVIS form for the most current amount required.
3. Signed Medical Insurance Agreement (bottom portion of the Supplemental Form for International Students)
Once admitted to the program, proof of health insurance is necessary in order to register for classes.

Step Three
Submit the following four documents to the College of Business Graduate Programs
1. Transcripts
Send one official sealed copy from all colleges, universities, and community colleges attended. International transcripts must include original transcripts plus a certified English translation. If official transcripts do not show the degree conferred, then a copy of the diploma with a certified English translation is also required. Only original copies are accepted.
2. Statement of Purpose
This Statement of Purpose essay is a required document. The admissions committee would like to see evidence of an applicant's maturity and motivation to finish the program. Include reasons for pursuing the MBA MIB dual degree program at San Francisco State and University of Nice, your past accomplishments that indicate potential as a successful candidate, and projections for the future. There are no specific guidelines regarding the format of this essay, the length ought to be one to two pages. Please submit on a separate sheet rather than using the space on the online application.
3. Résumé
Full-time work experience is highly recommended for admission to the program but not required. Internships are also good experience. Please include any internship or part-time work experience as well.
4. Letters of Recommendation
You may download the Letter of Recommendation Cover Form (pdf), sign and submit to each recommender. Please ask your recommender to complete the form and attach their recommendation letter. Letters can be from employers or professors. There is no specific format and no more than two letters are necessary. The recommenders may also write about your character and you work in a team environment. The Letter of Recommendation must be sent directly from your recommenders.

Step Four
GMAT or GRE
The GMAT or GRE is required for admission by all applicants. All test result(s) must be sent to the university directly from the test center.

TOEFL/IELTS/PTE
Request official TOEFL/ IELTS test scores to be sent to San Francisco State University.
All graduate business applicants, regardless of citizenship, whose native language is not English, must demonstrate English language proficiency. To demonstrate your English language ability, please request to have your official TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE Academic score report to the Division of Graduate Studies. Scores are valid for two years after the test date.

Application Deadline
MBA MIB dual degree program accepts students in the fall semester only. For Fall 2012, the application deadline is May 1, 2012.
